Our approach to glaucoma is evidence based.
We take a scientific approach to diagnosing, managing and following glaucoma.
Every measurable parameter is documented and used to predict likely progression.
For diagnosis we use both Humphrey visual field assessment and also the recently released SITA SWAP.
Patients are measured and followed using the Heidelberg Retinal Tomographer (HRT) which we believe is the most useful.
Optic disc assessment is complemented by photos for following progression, which is more accurate than drawings.
In the case of ocular hypertension we use the S.T.A.R progression calculator which is incorporated in our practice software, to predict 5 year risk of progression.
We are keen to co-manage glaucoma with therapeutically accredited optometrists wherever possible.
